Each team serves as an external consultant and has total responsibility for all phases of systems development. This capstone experience gives our student the opportunity to apply everything they have learned in MIS, other business disciplines, written and oral communications, project management, team management, and other areas. This year we have 5 projects. The following are brief descriptions of each project:
Limited Brands has requested that their Technical Re Limited Brands has requested that their Technical Reference Model (TRM) application be rebuilt using up-to-date technology. The TRM is a web-based application that communicates enterprise-wide technology standards to IT project teams and other technical and business users. The TRM will be rebuilt using newer, go-forward technologies to provide better usability as well as easier navigation of organization technology standards information.
The Internal Audit Department of Fifth Third Bank has identified a need to enhance its existing follow-up process on reported audit and regulatory observations and recommendations. This project is expected to include identifying a technology solution that provides enhanced features and reporting functionality through a web based interface to replace the existing database
Lighthouse Technologies is a company that offers Consultation Services and Software Development services. The Lighthouse senior project scope was to recommend and implement a new time management system. Before Lighthouse's time management system was based in Excel. Now they have upgraded to a system that is web based. Our team recommended this system, tested the system, implemented the system and trained users on the system.
The UD team will deploy an employee resource management system to track employee skills and competencies. Managers and executive personnel will then have visibility of employee resource's skills and competencies required for particular projects. In addition, education and training opportunities for employees will identified through the use of the resource management system.
Sogeti USA has experienced rapid growth in recent months is looking for a solution to increase efficiencies in their back office. The new system will help improve workflow and reduce the time it takes for new projects to be entered into their billing system. The web interface will enforce data validation to reduce the need to track down missing information.
