Computing at the SBA

The School of Business Administration offers its students, faculty and staff a richly rewarding computing environment with access to a wide variety of network resources and applications. In addition to computer labs and facilities, students, faculty and staff are exposed to new leading-edge technologies.

State-of-the-art facilities and tools are available to students, faculty and staff. The School provides two general-purpose laboratories and one technology equipped classroom/laboratory which are upgraded on an annual basis. Classrooms are equipped with a state-of-the-art technology infrastructure that includes network access, audio-visual equipment and personal computers.

Computing resources are upgraded and replaced on a three-year cycle. Standard software tools are installed and available to support a variety of functions such as statistical analysis, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database. A state-of-the-art laboratory is utilized by the Center for Portfolio Management and Security Analysis.

Most computing in the SBA takes place on personal desktop and laptop machines that are connected to the network via traditional Ethernet cards or wireless cards. Additionally, there are three computer labs in the Anderson Center

The SBA's PC labs have high-quality laser printing capabilities, color scanners, networks for data-sharing, and a variety of software and databases designed for course work and research. Most facilities are available throughout the day and evening. Students are encouraged to use the labs primarily to enhance, not replace, their own computer systems, and to provide space to work on group projects.

The SBA computer facilities are for the exclusive use of SBA Students, faculty, and staff. The computer labs are meant to supplement the personal systems which are required for admission. Labs are sometimes reserved for classes and during busy periods seats can be hard to find. Students with laptops are encouraged to use any of the network drops located throughout the school.

Labs can be reserved by faculty for classes or other activities requiring computer facilities. Students can reserve the TeamRooms (rooms designed to facilitate group work) by our electronic reservation system.

General SBA student computer support and quality maintenance of the computer labs is provided by the SBA Information Technology Services department.
