IREF Style

  1. Manuscripts must be typed on 8.5 x 11 paper. All pages, except those showing figures or tables, must be double-spaced with 1 inch margins. Keep titles, headings, and subheadings short. Number all pages sequentially, and place figures, tables, and references on separate pages following the text. Corresponding titles, legends, and captions should be sufficiently descriptive as to be understandable without reference to the text. The dimensions of figure axes and body of tables must be clearly labeled in English. Tables should be numbered consecutively in the text in Arabic numerals and typed on separate sheets. Table heads are to be in one line with additional information placed in a note. All unessential tables should be eliminated from the manuscript. Indicate the approximate location of tables/figures in the text with a phrase such as [INSERT TABLE 1 HERE].
  2. The cover page of the manuscript should contain the following information (in order): (i) the title, (ii) the name(s) of the author(s), (iii) the affiliation(s) of the author(s), and (iv) any acknowledgments or credits. At the bottom of the same page, provide the name, current address and telephone number of the "corresponding author," the author to whom proofs and reprint order forms should be addressed. Include an abstract of 150 words or less on a separate page. The first page of text should show the title but not the author's name.
  3. Lengthy mathematical proofs should be placed in an appendix. Where all of the steps involved in a formula have not been shown, please provide the full derivation of the formula on a separate sheet of paper. This will be used to assist referees but will not be published. Significant formulas should be numbered consecutively on the right-hand side of the page, as (1), (2), etc.
  4. All graphs and diagrams should be labeled as figures and numbered consecutively in the text in Arabic numerals. Upon acceptance of an article, author(s) must furnish camera-ready artwork in triplicate for all figures in a professional drawing on white paper (one original in black ink and two photocopies accepted). Any illustrations provided which must be redrawn by the publisher will be charged to the author(s).
  5. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively with superscript Arabic numerals and the number of footnotes should be kept to a minimum. Footnotes should be typed on a separate page, double-spaced, following the reference section.
  6. References cited in the text must appear in the reference list; conversely, each entry in the reference list must be cited in the text. References must be typed on a separate page, double-spaced, at the end of the paper.
