Applied Mathematical Economics Major
Other options include:
Business Economics Major
or Arts & Sciences Economics Major

Applied Mathematical Economics is an interdisciplinary BS offered by the Department of Economics and Finance and the Department of Mathematics. It is designed to give students both the economic theory and the quantitative skills necessary to work in research positions in business or government and to prepare students for graduate study in economics. While the level of mathematics required in this major is not necessary for economics majors who wish to pursue a more general business or public policy career or who plan to attend law school, there are many more technical positions in such fields as operations research and economic forecasting for which quantitative skills are essential. Graduate study in economics is increasingly mathematical and the math courses in this major are necessary to be considered for admission to high quality graduate programs.

This degree is offered by the College of Arts and Sciences.
