Awards and Honor Societies

Student excellence in the Department of Economics and Finance is recognized by 3 awards presented to graduating seniors and by nomination for the FMA National Honor Society and Omicron Delta Epsilon.

FMA National Honor Society

The department nominates students for membership in the National Honor Society of the Financial Management Association. Undergraduate requirements for membership consist of a minimum overall GPA of 3.25, a minimum GPA of 3.25 in finance and related course work, and the completion of at least six (6) hours in finance courses. Graduate requirements for membership consist of a minimum overall GPA of 3.5, a minimum GPA of 3.5 in finance and related course work, and the completion of one-half of the required course work. Omicron Delta Epsilon

Omicron Delta Epsilon is the international honor society in economics. It is open to all students, not just economics majors. The objectives of Omicron Delta Epsilon are the recognition of scholastic attainment, the honoring of outstanding achievements in economics, and the establishment of closer ties between students and faculty. The Tau Chapter at the University of Dayton was founded in 1973. Since that time we have inducted many outstanding students. To qualify for admission, you must have completed 12 hours of economics and have at least a 3.25 in both your overall grade point average and your grade point average in economics courses.
