Do I have to schedule an appointment? No, you don't have to schedule an appointment. Someone will always be available to help you on a first come first serve basis. If you want to call ahead of time or IM us to make sure someone is here to help you that is okay. Or just drop by on your way to or from class.
Where is the Advising Center located? The Advising Center is located in Miriam Hall room 211.
All business students are assigned an academic advisor. Your advisor's name is located on the bottom right hand corner of your degree audit. If necessary, or if you have any questions, you can always call or visit the Advising Center.
You can contact your advisor by using their Lotus Notes e-mail account, calling the department directly or stopping by their office during office hours. (Office hours are normally posted outside of their office door) If you have any problems please contact the Advising Center.
How often should I meet with my advisor? You should meet with your advisor or contact them via e-mail, telephone, etc as necessary but at least two times a year. You should meet to go over your degree audit and make sure you are on track for graduation and are taking all the appropriate courses and the appropriate times. If you have any additional questions please contact the Advising Center.
A Peer Advisor is an upper level undergraduate student in the School of Business who is there to assist you during your first year of college. The Peer Advisor office is located in the Advising Center. Or you can call 229-2065.
Your Peer Advisor was assigned to you during your first week of BAI 150. The name appears on the seating roster sent to you via e-mail. If you are unsure of who your Peer Advisor is contact the Advising Center or email advisingsba@notes.udayton.edu

What do I do if all the classes I want are closed? 1. Select another SBA degree requirement and schedule that!
What do I do if I need help selecting my courses? Your faculty advisor, Advising Center or Peer Advisor can help you select your courses. It is important to ask for help if you have any questions because you want to make sure you complete your degree requirements in four years.
What happens if I drop a class? If you drop a class before the "W" withdraw deadline it will not show up on your transcript. If you drop a class after the "W" withdrawal period a "W" will show up on your transcript. (It also appears under "Other Courses Taken" with a grade of a "W" on your degree audit.) Most students will have a few "W's" on their transcript by the time they graduate.
How can I change my current schedule? You will be able to change you schedule online up to a certain point. Your department advisor can also help you or you can stop by the Advising Center and they can help you make changes to your current schedule.
What do I do if I am on academic probation? You will receive a letter from John Shishoff- Director, Undergraduate Programs at the end of the semester. In the letter, he will state what you need to do.
Can I take courses back home during the summer? Yes, you will need to fill out the transfer credit agreement form and turn it in to the Advising Center (advisingSBA@notes.udayton.edu). You need to fill out the form before you register to take the course. Most business classes and all upper level (300-400) courses must be taken at an AACSB accredited University. If you have any questions contact the Advising Center.
Academic advisors can review the business curriculum and general curriculum with you in detail, answer questions about scheduling and prerequisites, sign your add, drop or withdraw form, answer questions about switching majors, provide information about policies and procedures, give general information and campus referrals and much more.

Can I rely on information I hear from upperclassman about the curriculum? Not always. Information changes year to year. To find the more accurate information you should always contact the Advising Center, a Peer Advisor or a faculty member.
